Safety and well-being

For many people, remaining at home safely and independently can become a challenge. Whether you are dealing with loneliness, grief, anxiety, or need respite as a caregiver, our team is here to provide support, companionship, and reassurance, helping you remain safe and comfortable at home.

We provide three programs designed to support your well-being, ensure your safety, and help you maintain a good quality of life at home.

Respite Service

The Respite Service is available to adults aged 55 and older, as well as adults with special needs and their caregivers. It allows caregivers to take time to rest or attend to personal responsibilities, while ensuring that their loved one receives safe and supportive companionship.

How does the Respite Service Works?

The Respite Service is provided in the client’s home according to a schedule established based on individual needs. A preliminary assessment is conducted to determine the person’s needs, the caregiver’s expectations, and the number of service hours required. Respite visits are scheduled on a regular basis. Services are delivered by qualified staff who provide safe, respectful, and person-centred support.

Grief Support

Have you lost a loved one? Do you need to talk about it and express your feelings? We offer a caring and compassionate presence to help you through this ordeal whether the bereavement is recent or several months old.

The Grief Support Program is offered to people of all ages living in the Prescott-Russell region.

The program includes a helpline and support provided by volunteers trained by the Champlain Palliative Care Program.

Upon receiving a call for help, we gather a few information and then put you in touch with a program volunteer. You will then journey together, at your own pace and according to your needs.

Our volunteers have been trained in palliative care to help patients and their families. These volunteers are empathic, respectful and open-minded individuals providing a non-judgmental presence. However, they are not therapists, and if needed, they can point you to professional services.
