Falls prevention

A few statistics

In Canada, falls are the leading cause of injury among seniors.

  • 95% of hip fractures are caused by a fall.
  • 50% of falls leading to hospitalisation occur at home.

Ageing affects sight, hearing, smell, touch and bone density. These physical changes can increase the risk of falls and injuries. And since recovery is generally slower in the elderly, an injury can have serious consequences.

Safe on both feet!

You can considerably reduce the risk of falling and injuring yourself at home by being proactive. As the saying goes, “prevention is better than cure”.

As well as suitable housing, a good diet and physical activity will help you stay safe on both feet.
